Greg Mottola, the director of the superhot "Superbad," is returning to Pittsburgh to make a comedy called "Adventureland." Production is scheduled to start in October.
Set in summer 1987, "Adventureland" tells the story of an uptight, recent college grad who is forced to take a degrading minimum wage job at a local amusement park when he realizes he cannot afford his dream European tour. But along the way, he finds love, friendships and newfound maturity.
Jesse Eisenberg, who starred in "The Squid and the Whale," is expected to star, according to a press release from Miramax Films and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment announcing the movie. In addition to directing, Mottola wrote the script.
"We are thrilled to be working with Greg Mottola. It's so rare to read a smart comedy like this with great characters and emotional depth," Keri Putman, Miramax production president said.
Mottola honed his filmmaking skills at both Carnegie Mellon University and Pittsburgh Filmmakers.
