Jonathan: July 2011 Archives
AHEADD has partnered with Joey Travolta and his film company Inclusion Films to host a film worksop in Pittsburgh from July 18-29. AHEADD is a community-based organization working with college students with Asperger's Syndrome, high functioning autism, attention deficit disorders, and other learning differences at the colleges of their choice. At Point Park University, from 10-3pm, Monday through Friday, young adults ages 14-25 will come together to produce, write, act, and edit scenes to create the final production of a short film they can call their own!
The camp will be inclusive in that any individual interested in some aspect of the film industry will be welcome. We will have a number of campers with Autism spectrum disorders in attendance as well. This opportunity can allow young adults with autism to benefit from working in an environment with their "neurotypical" peers. The camp will also allow typically developing young adults to mentor others and gain experience working with individuals with differences. And, of course, everyone will be benefitting by learning skills related to acting, screen writing, editing, and much more - all with an LA-style film crew!
