Pittsburgh Filmmakers plans summer series of classic comedies
Dumb comedies are an inevitable part of summer movie releases, but truly great comedies are few and far between.
Pittsburgh Filmmakers hopes to fill in the gaps on Sunday nights this summer, with a series of classic comedies.
The series began with Steve Martin’s goofball debut in “The Jerk” (1979) on Sunday June 7 and will continue until August 23 with the darkly comic romance “Harold and Maude.”
There are 13 titles in all, every Sunday until Aug. 30, including “The Philadelphia Story” (1940) on June 14, “Clueless” (1995) on June 21, “Galaxy Quest” (1999) on June 28, “Waiting for Guffman” (1996) on July 5. Furthermore, each comedy will be introduced by the Pittsburgh Filmmakers employee who lobbied for its inclusion.
All shows are at 8 p.m. Sunday night. Tickets are $8. Details: 412-681-5449.
