Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival Seeks Executive Director
The Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival is seeking a new Executive Director to organize and lead Canada’s premier pan-Asian film festival.
The Executive Director Leadership Profile:
The Executive Director implements and ensures delivery of the strategic mandate of the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (“Reel Asian”), Canada’s premier pan-Asian film festival. Reel Asian will be entering its 13th year in November 2009.
After at least five years of relevant experience, you are ready to become the driving force of a highly-respected and entrepreneurial charitable organization, recognized for its ability to bring the very best of Asian film and media arts to a city known for its discerning taste and appreciation of film.
You bring a well-developed network of corporate contacts and have a proven ability to use your perseverance, intellect and savvy, to create and grow long term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
You are poised and fearless in the face of challenging situations. You are a natural collaborator, but you are able to make decisive judgment calls, but only upon necessary inquiry, consultation and reflection. You are ready to consistently inspire a very driven operational staff comprised of very dynamic and intelligent professionals charged with fulfilling the creative, marketing and operational mandates of Reel Asian.
You have a strong track record of staff management, resource management and problem-solving in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. You have exceptional communication skills and are able to multi-task in a creative environment which has enhanced your capability to deliver results and to empower your team to do the same.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors. Compensation will be based on experience, potential and delivering against a challenging mandate.
Position Details:
Operational Leadership • Leadership and direct managerial responsibility of key staff • Ensuring the financial well-being of Reel Asian, by adhering to a comprehensive budget • Preparing reports and statements on Reel Asian’s operations for the Board • Faithfully implementing Board policy and directives • Regularly attending and reporting at Board meetings • Conducting, with the Board, periodic evaluations of Reel Asian, including staff, financial, operational and artistic assessments
Overall Strategic Partnerships - Stewardship and Development • Ongoing accountability for developing and implementing strategic partnerships, as you oversee the development of Reel Asian’s brand and community profile, including, but not limited to, marketing, publicity/promotions and co-presentation opportunities * Business Development* • Developing and improving relationships with all significant funders (private and public) and other relevant organizations, you will be charged with meeting business development targets formulated with the Development Committee • Being Reel Asian’s key representative in strategic partnership building with respect to prospective and current individual donors, private sector organizations and industry stakeholders • Growing the operating resources of Reel Asian by assessing and implementing new business models, aligned with Reel Asian’s mandate
