First Regional Artist Exhibition at 15 Minutes Gallery

By Kris on April 25, 2008 8:46 PM | Permalink | Comments (0)

The Pittsburgh Technology Council is proud to announce THE 15 MINUTES GALLERY - a new exhibition space that will showcase the works of regional artists and innovators.

Through this progressive initiative, it is the Council’s intent to recognize the synergy that exists between the technological and the artistic communities in Pittsburgh and the impact each component will have on the region’s future. To strengthen the link between these dynamic and innovative communities, the Council has partnered with Pittsburgh’s Sirani Gallery.

DESCRIPTION: The 15 Minutes Gallery will launch an exhibition beginning this June. All artwork will be displayed for a minimum of 3 months (required consignment).

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: A Call for Entries is currently underway. Artwork submitted on or before April 30, 2008 will be eligible for inclusion in the Gallery’s inaugural exhibition. All works of art in the 15 Minutes Gallery will be for sale to the general public, with 75% of the proceeds returning to the artist.

AWARDS: Exhibition participants will be considered for the following awards: Best of Show; Best Use of Innovative Mediums; Best Use of Regional Subject Matter. As the supporting partner of this exhibition, the Sirani Gallery will invite the four award recipients to participate in a private art exhibition in October.

ELIGIBILITY: All local artists older than 18 are eligible for submission.

JUDGING: Up to 50 entries will be selected for the exhibition. Key figures of Pittsburgh’s artistic community comprise the 15 Minutes Gallery jurors panel including Pittsburgh Center for the Arts 2006 Artist of the Year, Jane Haskell and Barbara Krause, Owner and Director of the Sirani Gallery. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

EXHIBITION OPENING: The 15 Minutes Gallery will launch its inaugural exhibition with an artist’s reception on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 5:30 to 8pm. Join us for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, as well as a live music performance and silent art auction, featuring original etchings by Renoir, Picasso, and Slvador Dali. Event is free and open to the public.

APPLICATION FEE: $25; non-refundable check or money-order, payable to PHTC Services. Entry fee includes up to 5 pieces of artwork.
