Casting for Rocky Horror Show

The Rage of the Stage Players, Pittsburgh’s offbeat, dark, and alternative theatre company, now in our 7th year, who has produced such works as the gritty, urban, Alice’s Adventures in “Wonderland,” Little Red Riding Hood, Dracula: Dragon Prince, and most recently, Villains, just to name a few, is now accepting resumes and headshots (or a variety of good regular photos) from multi-talented performers (singers, dancers, actors, etc.) for our 16th production, The Rocky Horror Show, which will rehearse starting at the end of June in the South Hills and perform in August/September of 2008 on the South Side (The Brew House).

As anyone who is familiar with our work might expect, this will NOT be the same old fair. Our ambitious take on The Rocky Horror Show will visually re-imagine each and every character, and will have a lot of new conceptual twists and re-interpretations, which will make the experience quite fresh for our demanding audiences, as well as the performers involved. That’s why we require an open-minded and easygoing cast. We are die-hard fans of the film as well, but if you’re looking for the movie, you will not find it on our stage.

It cannot be stressed enough to those who are unfamiliar (where have you been?) that this show is a bawdy, sci-fi/horror romp with strong sexual content (both with STRAIGHT and HOMOSEXUAL overtones), cross dressing, violence, and other off-color themes, so we only desire individuals who are comfortable with themselves, their sexuality, their bodies, and who can just let go and enjoy themselves. Also, our Rocky will involve both elaborate costumes and make-up on a pretty grand scale, so if you have an issue with that, you may want to take it under advisement as well.

Along with resume and headshot, we require full body stats (if you want to do Rocky and you’re too shy to offer these, you’re already in trouble), age, etc., and any photos or links which may give us an accurate look at your current body type. (Guys if you have any simple pics of yourselves shirtless to illustrate musculature, etc. that would also be of assistance). Be sure that resumes include your musical background (if applicable) as well as basic acting.

**As usual, ANYONE who works with our not-for-profit group must understand that it is on a VOLUNTARY-BASIS only. These would all be NON-PAID positions. However, if letters of recommendation or reference are desired, that can certainly be arranged.
