"Genius of the System" to Shine Light on Movie Making School
Thomas Schatz, film scholar and executive director of the University of Texas Film Institute will be in town to discuss how a new film school can enable students to become skilled professionals, artistic visionaries, and pioneers of an ever changing medium.
Imagine a school where you could make movies with the help of people like Richard Linklater, Matthew McConaughey, and the producers of such movies and TV shows as Desperado, Bull Durham, Spy Kids, and West Wing. It's happening in Texas. And Tom Schatz feels it could happen here as well.
Schatz is a film scholar and author of "The Genius of the System: Hollywood Filmmaking in the Studio Era." He is also executive director of the University of "Texas Film Institute (UTFI).
This event is free and open to the public and is being sponsored by Steeltown Entertainment Project, Pitt in Hollywood, and the Pitt Film Studies Department.
